SPRUNG!! INTEGRATED DANCE THEATRE WORKSHOPS
INVERELL AND ARMIDALE
Project Overview: Sprung!! Dance Theatre Workshops in Inverell and Armidale
Sprung!! successfully delivered its signature inclusive, all-abilities creative and expressive dance theatre workshops in Inverell and Armidale. These workshops provided a platform for individuals who enjoy movement, music, and creative expression, with a particular focus on engaging people with disabilities.
Led by Sprung!! Senior Dancers Sinead, Tallula, and Kane, alongside Michael Hennessy (ex-Sydney Dance Company) and Katie Cooper-Wares, the workshops brought participants together for shared creative experiences. The sessions were designed for people aged 16 and older who could actively engage in the inclusive activities. Each workshop concluded with a short performance showcasing the work created on the day.
Sprung!!, a not-for-profit arts organisation based in the Northern Rivers, NSW, specialises in integrated workshops for people with and without disabilities. Its dance and physical theatre programs are collaboratively developed through a disability-led process, aiming to inspire mainstream audiences and promote inclusivity.
The workshops were part of a broader initiative funded by the NSW Government through Arts Restart, with bookings managed to ensure Covid safety protocols were upheld.
This project successfully brought communities together to celebrate creativity and inclusivity through dance, reinforcing Sprung!!'s mission to foster a more inclusive society.
