PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER
Putting The Pieces Together was a hands-on community art project fostering strong and inclusive arts and cultural landscape in the New England North West.
Putting the Pieces Together was a suite of strategic creative activities across the NENW region to engage and collaborate with the different elements of our arts and cultural sector including artists with and without disability, the wider community and cultural organisations. It will build on existing creative opportunities in NENW for artists with disability to participate in high quality art projects alongside their contemporaries, to explore, document and celebrate our region’s diversity.
Through a series of workshops and activities, participants used large blank puzzle pieces as a canvas to express their own artistic experience. This artistic collaborative result was realised as an art installation of 20 cubes made from 80 individual puzzle pieces, representative of building blocks of an inclusive arts sector. The cube installation was revealed in December in 2017 at Moree Plains Gallery and in 2018 at The Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery.
This Program Putting The Pieces Together is supported by devolved funding administered by Accessible Arts (AARTS) on behalf of the Lifetime Care and Support Authority (LTCSA).
