The University of New England School Accquisitive Art Prize (UNESAP) is held annually with the purpose of encouraging talented young artist in regional New South Wales.
"Through the reflective process of journey and return Stokes has maintained a sustained engagement with Claude Monet's Nymphéas suite, both as image and its terrain. Late in 2010 Stokes visited Paris and returned in 2014 as part of an Internationale des Arts Cite Residency which included extended access to Monet's garden in Giverny The Nymphéas: immersive experience and hybrid zones within painting practice. "
Read More"People who have been to my previous exhibitions will see work featuring the style and mood they are familiar with. I have been working on larger canvases, which is something I haven’t done for a while. There will also be some smaller mixed media paintings on boards and detailed pen drawings on paper. For myself, I am looking at this exhibition as a way of reacquainting myself with the local community. My hope is that people will come along and connect with landscapes they are familiar with."
