The Heading West Arts and Disability project has been received with overwhelming positivity from the New England North West region.
This week Julie Barratt, from Accessible Arts, will be visiting the New England North West region to engage with arts and disability stakeholders, and to continue the successful mentorship of local Arts and Disability Officer, Steph Brummell. The strategic partnership between Arts North West, Accessible Arts and Arts Northern Rivers has allowed the initial stages of the Heading West project a supportive and experienced platform from which to flourish.
Julie’s visit to the region gives added support to the enAble Arts network, and will result in the establishment of an innovative Heading West project steering committee. The committee will focus on the development of creative projects which foster inclusivity, accessibility and the sustainability of creativity opportunities for artists with disability in the region.
A community forum will be held at the end of July to engage and discuss with stakeholders how the Heading West project can find ways to overcome the physical distance between artists and opportunities; increase professionalism and partnerships; and to promote more inclusive practice.
