Project Recap: Lift Off! The Festival of the Wind
Arts North West's "Lift Off! The Festival of the Wind" was a unique celebration aimed at exploring the cultural, environmental, and creative significance of wind. Held in Glen Innes, this community-driven festival brought together diverse art forms, including visual art installations, workshops, live performances, and interactive family activities.
The festival encouraged engagement with local artists and promoted creative expression through innovative uses of the wind theme. Highlights included community kite-making, storytelling sessions inspired by traditional and contemporary themes, and environmental awareness programs. Artists like Adele Chapman-Burgess contributed through workshops and exhibitions that explored Aboriginal connections to country, culture, and identity
This event emphasised the value of collaboration and participation, showcasing the talents of regional creatives while fostering a deeper appreciation for natural and cultural heritage. It also provided opportunities for skill-sharing and cultural exchange, aligning with Arts North West's mission to enhance community capacity and cultural cohesion across the New England North West region
