Gather & Trade 2024: Celebrating First Nations Artisans and Culture

In 2024, Gather & Trade continued its mission of celebrating and supporting First Nations artisans with events across the region. In addition to its presence at the NarraBRIGHT Festival on 15 March, Gather & Trade also took part in the Myall Creek Memorial Commemorative Event at the Ceramic Break Sculpture Park.

This special gathering brought together community members to honor and reflect on the historical significance of the Myall Creek Memorial while showcasing the rich cultural heritage and creativity of First Nations artisans. The micro market provided a platform for talented artists to share their stories, traditions, and handmade works, connecting audiences to the depth and diversity of Aboriginal art and culture.

The Gather & Trade events in 2024 highlighted the continued commitment of Arts North West to creating opportunities for First Nations creatives, fostering cultural pride, and promoting meaningful connections between artists and communities throughout the New England North West region. These events were made possible with funding from the Australian Government’s Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support Program.

Gather & Trade has become a symbol of cultural celebration, providing First Nations artisans with meaningful opportunities to share their traditions, stories, and art with the wider community, enriching the cultural fabric of the New England North West.
