STUFF OF TALES
The Stuff of Tales is a strategic partnership to develop and promote access in, and engagement to, small museums in the New England North West. A writer will work closely with each museum to deliver professional development workshops as well as to create a story inspired by an object chosen from the permanent collection, targeted to young people. The project will culminate with the creation of an online storybook, a collection of youth generated zines and a marketing campaign developed for the
cultural tourism market.
Regional writers (Sophie Masson, John Heffernan, Ian Irvine, Beattie Alvarez, Fiona McDonald and Bronwyn Parry) will be working with volunteers from each of the six museums - The Land of the Beardies History House, Glen Innes; Powerstation Museum, Tamworth; McCrossins Mill Uralla; Saumarez Homestead Armidale; The Roxy Museum Bingara and Railway Journeys Museum Werris Creek. These writers will also be providing youth creative writing workshops in those communities.
This project is a fantastic opportunity for communities to get behind their wonderful museums, and to explore and celebrate the unique hidden treasures in their collections.
The Stuff of Tales is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW.
