ARTS NORTH WEST CREATIVE CHAMPIONS
Arts North West is seeking an individual to be the Uralla Creative Champion, with a passion and strong interest in the arts to grow the resource base of Arts North West Connect.
The Creative Champion will seek out professional or advanced visual and performing artists, writers, designers, technicians, and community arts workers in the shires where they live, and assist them to enhance their resumes, bios and portfolios in the process of linking them to the Arts North West Connect regional registry of arts workers in the New England North West.
This position will be vital to establishing links between the creative population of our region and council tourism and information centres, giving our local artists and arts-related industries acknowledgment, recognition and employment opportunities, growing sustainability for the arts within our communities.
This is a 10-week, casual appointment.

Arts North West (ANW) is Regional Arts Development Organisation for the New England North West. Arts North West Connect is a free online registry of creative people, cultural venues, and technical skill providers working in the New England North West at artsnwconnect.com.au. There is no cost to any person or venue promoted through the registry, including virtual portfolios, bios, resumes, web links, and services.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Arts North West Creative Champion (ANWCC) you are passionate about the arts, and have the flexibility and imagination to identify arts workers across the broad spectrum of creative people, cultures, and the industries and venues which support them in your shire. You will use your existing knowledge of the arts and related industries to find and connect with arts workers in your council area and help them to build their profiles with resources provided by Arts North West. You will build upon these existing relationships to broaden your search via word-of-mouth, internet searches and conversations with people working in the arts, council tourism, and other connected fields to grow your council’s database.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Locate and connect with creative workers in the arts and related industries within your council area. Because council populations differ widely, Creative Champions will have different KPIs and expected weekly hours with a salary commensurate with each council’s population.
Connect arts workers with resources to create or enhance their artist bio, resume and portfolio and assist arts workers to enhance their visibility and public profile.
Collect details of arts venues or technical skill professionals to provide to Arts North West Connect.
Liaise with Arts North West Communications Officer to assist identified arts workers to deliver their new or updated professional criteria for upload to Arts North West Connect.
Discover and record creative venues in the shire in conjunction with council tourism officers.
Link with local tourism to share updates on Arts North West Connect directory by establishing relationships with local tourism staff, checking in weekly, and sharing new connections and information as each Creative Champion grows its resource base.
Join dedicated Facebook Creative Champions group to connect with other CCs, the ANW project manager and council cohorts, and share ideas and contacts to support each other.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Strong interest in the arts and dedication to community arts development
Self-management and organisational skills
Good writing and communication skills across a wide variety of stakeholders
Attention to detail, ability to think outside the box
Current NSW Class C Drivers License or access to reliable transportation, and telephone and reliable internet connection access
Public liability insurance
SPECIFIC ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Creative Champion will be employed in the following council areas with the expected numbers of new arts workers/venues/portfolios to be identified and connected to Arts North West Connect’s database:
Creative Champion Council Area

15 (New arts workers/venues/tech skills minimum)
$1500 (Salary travel and expenses are inclusive in this award)
