Powerful Places Seminar to be held in Tamworth

Convergence and co-location of cultural facilities in Australia and overseas continues to be a topic of importance to the museum/gallery/library sector. Staged as part of the Power of Place Public Libraries NSW – Country Conference (29 July – 1 August), this event will analyse the benefits and challenges of convergence from an organizational and audience viewpoint. What works and what doesn’t? How can we plan for successful convergence models?

This is an excellent opportunity for museum, gallery, library and local government staff associated with converged services and facilities to better understand convergence issues, theories and practice.

Keynote Speaker will be Bill MacNaught, Manager, Puke Ariki, New Zealand. Other speakers include Noelle Nelson, Library & Cultural Development Manager, Newcastle City Council, Michelle Brennand, Manager Library and Heritage Services, City of Wanneroo, Meg Larkin, community and cultural planning consultant, Maisy Stapleton CEO Museums & Galleries NSW, Carina Clement Cultural Programs Team Leader, Albury City Council NSW.

Powerful Places: models of convergence in the museum, gallery and library sector seminar will be held at the Tamworth Regional Gallery from 9.30am - 4pm on Tuesday, 29 July 2008.
